Dear
Players, Parents, and Coaches:
You are receiving this e-mail because of
past or present interest in the Penns Forest F. C. Center
of Excellence (COE) Soccer Academy for U9, U10, and U11 players.
The Penns Forest COE is a Player
Development Program arranged as a joint effort between PA
West Soccer and Penns Forest F. C. designed to provide U9-U11
players (born between August 1, 1993 and July 31, 1996) with
the highest level training. (http://www.pawestsoccer.org/districtcentersofexcellence.html)
For the Spring 2005 playing season, the
COE is open to all U9/U10 Boys and Girls. The COE for U11
Boys is closed and the U11 Girls will be restricted to 20
to 24 players.
OBJECTIVE AND PHILOSOPHY OF PENNS FOREST
COE
The Penns Forest COE objective is to fulfill
the need for additional high level training targetting the
better U9, U10, and U11 boys and girls with minimal interference
with their local soccer club's activities. The training is
technical in
nature. This means that our sessions attempt to improve the
individual abilities of each player using fun age appropriate
games and activities. Team development and tactics is not
a high priority.
SCHEDULE and LOCATION
The Penns Forest COE for the Spring 2005
season will be a 9 to 10 week season. This will include at
least 9 training sessions, two COE Festivals, and a tournament
competition for the U11's. There could be consideration to
open the tournament up to U9/U10 depending upon commiment
from the players and parents. The tentative schedule is below.
All U9/U10 Training will be on Friday evenings
at White Oak Park. The U11 Girls will be on either Wednesday
or Fridays and at a different location yet to be determine.

The COE Festivals are games against the
other PA West COEs. Each COE will bring individual teams in
each age group to compete in a schedule of inter-COE games.
In addition to the COE Festivals, the Penns Forest U11 COE
will enter either an in-state or out-of-state tournament on
Memorial Day Weekend. Potential travel
expenses are not included in the COE fees.
COSTS
The cost for the Spring 2005 Penns Forest COE is $100. This
fee will include registration fees, coaches fees, two Tee
shirts, administration fees, and festival fees.
REGISTRATION
PA West restricts the number of players
we are allowed to train in each age group. So far, demand
has not exceed our quota and therefore, tryouts have not been
necessary except for the U11 Boys and Girls. The U11 Boys
COE is closed and the U11 Girls has approximately 10 positions
available. Registration for the U9/U10 can take place at the
initial meeting on April 8th, but you should contact Gary
T. Myers via e-mail or telephone to assure proper communication
if last minute changes occur. Permission to attend the U11
Girls COE may be obtained by contacting Gary T. Myers either
by e-mail or telephone (see below for numbers). Please consult
the Penns Forest web site for additional instruction/information
(http://www.pennsforest.com).
If you have any additional questions I
could answer, please do not hesitate to call or e-mail.
Yours in Soccer,
Gary T. Myers
