U15 Forest Girls advance to the National Finals
by winning the Great Lakes SYL |
| 8/21/2005 |
August 15, 2005 Pittsburgh,
Pa.
The Penns forest girls have
had a pretty exciting year so far. The girls
win the Pa West State Cup for the 2nd year in
a row and then clinch a SYL Great Lake Division
title in their first year in the League. The
finals are played in Tampa Fla. on November
17 thru the 21st. "The Penns Forest boys
that attended the SYL finals last year have
been encouraging the girls telling them what
a great event it was" said Dick Nese, Penns
Forest Chairmen, "I'm glad these girls
will get the chance to experience it for themselves,
They deserve it, they played the entire season
focused on a goal and achieved it. We are very
proud of all of them and we are sure they will
represent us well against the best competition
in the Country."
It was no easy task winning this division with
some of the best girls’ team in the country
involved. Wins over Nationally ranked teams
Like Cleveland International and Chicago Sockers
showed our girls are on a level of every elite
team in the Country. The championship was close.
The Penns Forest Girls, by the better goal differential,
(a plus 24) win the bracket over the Cleveland
Internationals that posted the same win loss
record. "This was a little strange for
us. We are used to playing in tournaments and
getting a result in a weekend. This was a test
of endurance as much as ability" said Head
Coach Rege Schugart. The Girls will get some
well deserved rest for awhile but get right
back to training for the trip to Tampa In November.
The girls are looking forward to the trip. They
will miss some school and miss some of the winter
but I’m told they will get over this hardship.
The SYL Finals are recognized as a National
ODP event and is a legal absence from school.
Good Luck Girls! Hope to see you on the highlight
show on Fox Sportsworld! Click

Penns Forest Opens SYL Season in Toledo.. |
| 5/15/2005 |
Brice Lott explodes for 3 goals and 1 assit
as he leads the 17 boys to a 4-1 victory. the
1st of what they hope will be the first step
to a return trip to the SYL National finals
in tampa Fla. in November. Jarrod Smeltzer finished
the scoring with 2 assits by Steve Nese and
one by new comer Phil Knuttle.
The 16 girls where tested by a Toledo Slayers
first year SYL team but defensively shut down
the opposition. Toledo held the potent offense
as long they could until Jonnah Handra assisted
Jill "jiggs" Miller and struck the
first home. 2nd Goal by Whittney Warmus ended
any chance for a Toledo come back.
The 19 boys 3 games in 2 days took a toll as
they fell 0-3.

Well Rooted in SYL Play |

05/03/2004 |
The first weekend of may is in the books, and Penns
Forest has begun making it's mark on the 2004 Super
Y League season. The U16 girl's started the campaign
in proper form on Saturday, as they recorded a 2-1
win over the Cleveland Force. Jonna Handra netted
both goals for Forest on assists from midfielder
Megan Klingenberger. Sunday, The MISL club from
Cleveland got even, downing the green and white
4-1. The U14 girls, although giving a valiant effort
took their lumps in a 6-1 defeat to the Force. The
U16's come out of the weekend with a 1-1 record
in Midwest Conference play, while the U14's find
themselves 0-1.

04/27/2004 |
|
Penns Forest opened the 2004 Super Y League on
Sunday, and the boys sides didn't disappoint.
Forest came away from Toledo with a 2-1 record.
The '90 boys got things started by knocking off
the Slayers 3-0. Jeffrey Simmons opened the scoring
with an assist from Corey Kiefer. Danny Cherok
scored the second goal for Forest as he went the
distance, taking on multiple defenders in a grand
dribbling exhibition to put the green and white
ahead by two. Colin Curry closed out the scoring,
adding an insurance goal after teammate Nick Kutch
found him as Forest proved victorious. The boys
are now 1-0 on the season.

need to know about the SYL ODP system |
| 03/23/2004 |
Dear
Super Y-League Player:
As former professional and national team players
we understand the demands of what it takes to
get to the next level. It takes a lot of training
and preparation to make it there.
We also understand the importance of communicating
with the players. It is important that you know
what the National Scouting Network will be looking
for in a player. We have put together some information
below to keep you informed.
If there are any other questions that you may
have please send those to the SYL office at sylpr@usisl.com
